What is the best source of protein?

A question that can arise in almost any conversation about nutrition with your friends or with your nutritionist, many will say that the best source of protein is chicken, but is that true?

THEN WHAT IS THE BEST SOURCE OF PROTEIN?

Eggs are often promoted as the best source of protein, of course, you can’t go wrong with wild salmon, veal, chicken, turkey, etc. But let’s take a step back for a second.

All proteins are made up of amino acids, the basic components of the protein. Some proteins, such as animal proteins, have a good variety of all essential amino acids and are called “complete proteins.” Vegetable proteins are generally lacking in one or more amino acids and are called “incomplete proteins.”

Many years ago it was considered that incomplete proteins were those that should be consumed in the afternoon or avoided because it did not provide the same amount or rather did not work as well as complete.

But over time this has changed and now we know that the key is that you are eating a variety of different sources; Each protein source is unique and has its advantages.

Back to the point about the eggs. Eggs are indeed a fantastic source of complete protein. They are also one of the cheapest forms of protein, gram by gram, that offer you the best option for your money.

We’ve written a lot about the health benefits of eggs lately. Eat whole eggs regularly and enjoy them. The other message we’ve been saying for a while when it comes to different protein options is: “As long as I don’t have better legs.”

In other words, the fish is fantastic (it has no legs), then chicken and turkey, followed by beef and pork. Sure, they are all great and everyone has different nutrient profiles, but those with fewer legs are traditionally a little leaner. That is good. And adding some vegetarian proteins throughout the week is also smart.

  • Beans
  • Walnuts
  • Tofu
  • Peanut Butter or Nut
  • Whole grains, such as quinoa and barley.

Try to make a variety of meals that include them, so you can take advantage of your food and above all have greater gains in the gym.
