Saori (that’s the name of the doll) from Nagano, where she originally lived, to Tokyo, where she gets a better atmosphere to share with her beloved.
When questioned about the reasons why he ended up sharing his life with an inanimate being, Senji responds that Saori is not only paying attention to money, like the rest of human beings. Saori requires care and attention but gives Senji back a faithful and sincere company. In Senji’s words, she has been able to carry a deep and rich relationship with her doll.
Since Senji lives with Saori, she walks him daily, buys dresses and wigs with which she feels good.
Love dolls, as they are also called, are manufactured mainly in China, and are very common in Japan, where their price is around 400 dollars. One of the most repeated slogans by the manufacturers is “once a man has one, he will not want a real one again”. In the case of Senji, they seem to have hit the nail on the head.
